There's probably no God

Early this year, London has buses running with this slogan "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life." Now, this slogan may be coming to Toronto and Vancouver.

As a Christian myself, I actually don't feel offended by this slogan, and am perfectly fine for having this slogan put in public display. However, I encourage everyone, that sees this slogan, should think about what it really means to you and your belief. The followings are just my personal thoughts ...

"There's probably no God ..." - hum, it seems the author himself/herself is not 100% sure, or there're not enough proofs for him/her to say "There's no God ...". Anyway, in reality, there are only 2 possibilities -- "There's God", or "There's no God". What do I lose if I choose to believe "There's God", but there's actually no God? Beside the wasted time and effort in worshipping and serving and being good, nothing much. I go to the same place as all non-God-believer. However, what do I lose if I choose to believe "There's no God", but there's actually God? Could be huge. Could be in hell for eternity. Allow me to borrow a term from a popular "sport" (poker) -- I would put "all in" to believe there's God. That's a safer bet.

"Now stop worrying ..." - hum, I wonder what does the author think that people are worrying about when there's God? Worried about getting caught red-handed? Worried about going to hell? Worried about the end of the world? Worried being punished by God? If we didn't do anything bad, what do we need to worry about those? If we truly understand Christianity and believe (safer bet!) in it and the teachings, then we should know that there's absolutely nothing for us to worry. Instead, if there's no God, I will worry a lot more - about future, job, finanical situation, health - as I have no one mighty enough for me to lean on, to trust, and to be comforted by. I will worry if I should put my faith in the human justice system to punish the ones that should be punished.

"and enjoy your life." - hum, does the author mean God-believers have so much worries that they cannot simply enjoy their lives? Based on my above thoughts, since I put in a better bet, and this bet guarantees me with no worry, I can actually enjoy my life - which I do! In fact, because of my belief, I know what's life, what's the purpose of life, the reason we are here, and most importantly -- what's after this life. With this belief and knowledge, I know how to enjoy this life, how to use this life, and how to make others to enjoy their lives.

"Believe in God, as He will take care the rest. Enjoy your life!"
